Goals

“The victory of success is half won when one gains the habit of setting goals and achieving them. Even the most tedious chore will become endurable as you parade through each day convinced that every task, no matter how menial or boring, brings you closer to fulfilling your dreams.” Og Mandino

A year ago I wrote on my blog and made some hefty goals for the year 2012. Remember? Nineteen things I wanted to do in my twentieth year? Well, I completed half of my goals. After really looking at my goals from last year I decided to do my goals a little differently this year. I had some huge goals, but I need to make some small goals before I try to complete these huge, overwhelming goals. That does NOT mean that I will not accomplish my huge goals, but I am just going to be smart about it.

I have a very dear friend who shared with me how he does his goals. I have tried his way of achieving his goals and it really enjoyed it. His reminder of how he accomplishes goals encouraged me to start again. I will be splitting my goals into spiritual, physical, educational, and social. I will have daily, weekly, and monthly girls. Like I mentioned before I have done this before. However, he did introduce a new way to keep track of my goals.

Last winter I implemented daily planning into my life. I love crossing things off of my to do lists. But I didn't do a daily check up of my goals. So, I am going to do that. I hope to see a difference!

Cheers to a new year!

Words to Think About

"Your real, new self (which is Christ's and also yours, and yours just because it is His) will not come as long as you are looking for it. It will come when you are looking for Him. Does that sound strange? The same principle holds, you know, for more everyday matters. Even in social life, you will never make a good impression on other people until you stop thinking about what sort of impression you are making. Even in literature and art, no man who bothers about originality will ever be original whereas if you simply try to tell the truth (without caring twopence how often it has been told before) you will, nine times out of ten, become original without ever having noticed it. The principle runs through all life from top to bottom, Give up yourself, and you will find your real self. Lose your life and you will save it. Submit to death, death of your ambitions and favourite wishes every day and death of your whole body in the end submit with every fibre of your being, and you will find eternal life. Keep back nothing. Nothing that you have not given away will be really yours. Nothing in you that has not died will ever be raised from the dead. Look for yourself, and you will find in the long run only hatred, loneliness, despair, rage, ruin, and decay. But look for Christ and you will find Him, and with Him everything else thrown in.”

It's Been Awhile

Yikes! It has been well over a month since I posted on this blog. It is really hard to update this blog without a  laptop. I also feel terrible for not having pictures on my posts because that really adds to a post. I am a photography major and I can not stand to post pictures that have not been edited. Yes, I have become one of those people!

So much has happened since my last post. I made new GREAT friends. I celebrated Christmas. I started my fourth semester of college. (I walk in April, but will have one more semester during the summer.) I have been released from my calling, and I am kind of missing it. Not the calling itself, but having a calling. Oh, and I am not a teenager anymore! It doesn't sound like too much but life is moving so fast.

I have a lot of good ideas for this blog but it is so hard to keep up with it. I really am going to try. I have a few posts ideas coming up. Some of them will be about 2012, resolutions, and lessons I am learning.

So, I really will try to do that!

XOXO
