Day Four

I, Nephi, having been born of goodly parents

Today I'm thankful that I've been born of goodly parents. This post should have been written on December first. After all I would not be alive without them. I am so thankful that I was born to Gary and Shannon Chelson. I am my mom and dad's third child and first daughter. I am a daddy's girl but I love my mom a lot too!

I was named after Hannah in the Bible. In Hebrew Hannah means Grace of God. In every blessing I've ever received my dad reminds me of the meaning of  my name. Whenever I am having a hard time or being really mean, I remember what my name is. My name is one of the greatest gifts my parents have ever given me. I'm so thankful that they blessed me with a name that's associated with a great name.

Like I mentioned before I'm a daddy's girl. I've always loved him and I always will. I remember reading somewhere that a Dad is a daughter's first love. He really is mine! My dad is a hero in my life. My dad is a man of God. He's a seminary teacher, a worthy priesthood holder, great dad, brother, son, uncle, friend, and bishop. I can not recall a time when my dad has ever sworn. My dad rarely raises his voice. I am also thankful for my dads sense of humor. He has a way of applying humor to things and being serious when he needs to. My dad is a scriptorian. If you have a question about scriptures just ask him! I am so thankful that Gary Chelson is my daddy! He has been one of my greatest blessings and I have missed him a lot since being in Salt Lake.

Behind every good man is a great woman. I don't think that is the correct saying but I sure do like it! ;)  My mom is the coolest, most patient, understanding, funny, personable, well liked lady I know. My dad has had callings that have left my mom alone with the kids during church. My mom had five kids under the age of seven and my dad was in the bishopric. She was responsible for getting all of us ready and making sure we were at church. We ALWAYS looked presentable and clean and believe me that it a huge chore when it comes to my family. A lot of my dad's calling have taken him a way on weekdays. She keeps our house clean, neat, and organized. I do not know how she does it all. My mom is the prettiest lady I know. She also has a great sense of humor and can make people laugh for hours. My mom is  a substitute teachers and all of the kids love her. My mom handles pressure and stress very well. My mom is always willing to help people in need. Even when she had babies at home she would take care of other families. She helped a lady get through college by watching her baby. She has helped raise a lot of kids.My mom is the most understanding lady I know. I love my mom and she is one of my heroes.

The greatest thing my parent did for me was to teach me the Gospel. We always went to church! Yes, we even go to stake conference. We have family home evening every week. We had to read For the Strength of the Youth every week. I have that book memorized because of them. We also have done other things that have been very useful to me while being here. My parents have firm testimonies of the church. My mom is a convert to the church. She got married in the temple without any of her family there. She had no family support when she got married. My mom was always active even when she wasn't a a member. My mom was called to be a laurel president and she wasn't baptized. My dad went on a two year mission and he was only called to a year and a half mission. My parent accept every calling. They also work hard at their callings.

I'm so thankful for my parents and I wish I could say everything good about them. I am very blessed to be born of goodly parents. I love them and am so thankful for them!
