Play Theory (LDSBC Improv)

The LDSBC is full of neat clubs. There are so many opportunities to become involved and learn so many new things. When I first arrived at the LDSBC, one club really stood out to me. The club's name is Play Theory. I did not actually attend a improv meeting until my mentor, Loira, dragged me to a club meeting. The improv club is full of awesome people and they do awesome things. The first activity I ever participated in was Changa. It's a very strange game and I thought everyone was crazy.

Now if you know me you know I like weird and crazy. I kept going to the club practices on Wednesday and I started to love improv. The improv team is very funny and I loved watching them practice.

  • What is Play Theory?  It is a principal based playing focused on bettering all who participate. The principle include, 1) Be 100% present 2) Let go and play 3) Yes and 4) Look outward!
These principle apply not only to play theory but to life. I am not part of the improv team but I am part of the improv club. Last night I had a chance to be part of a show. I was put into two skits, Four Ways to Die and Sound Effects. I had never played either of these games before the day of the show. I was very nervous and stressed. I was able to apply the principles and I loved being in the show.

Improv is great and I suggest everyone find a group close to them and become involved.
